art:21 is the producer of a documentary series focused on contemporary art. In 2008, they came to Hot Studio to help them solve some strategic and tactical issues with their web presence.

Research

Before starting design, we spent time with art:21 stakeholders, viewers, educators and potential users of the website to develop personas. Design

art:21 was interested in how to create a more participatory space on their website. We explored pairing social tools with videos that would be hosted on their site, allowing educators to create profiles to demonstrate how they use art:21 materials, and spaces for students to upload artwork inspired by contemporary art.
